“Making Space” – Columbus Modern Dance Company Fall Performance
Friday, September 29, 2017 at 8:00pm
The Columbus Idea Foundry
Step into this gorgeous renovation of a 100-yr old shoe factory, and ascend the grandstand for the perfect view of the unique Idea Foundry space. The exposed beams and original floor make the perfect setting for an evening of modern dance. This performance will include the company premiere of “Elles Parlent” by Ellen Vierse, a Chicago-based dance artist. Also, it will be our audience’s first chance to view a solo work “Night Bloom” by Robert Poe of Saint Louis’s Big Muddy Dance Company. In advance of an October 20th collaboration at the Cultural Arts Center’s “Sight of Music” Gallery, the audience will get a sneak peak into our new works based on the visualization of music. Tickets available at comodance.org.

Columbus Cultural Arts Center
This Fall, the Columbus Cultural Arts Center presents a large exhibition of contemporary works by Ohio artists, in a challenge set forth by guest curator, local poet and writer, Steve Abbott. Framed by a nod to synesthesia, “THE SIGHT OF MUSIC” will present visual representations of the aural arts, exploring how we interact with music as a central aspect of our humanity.
The Columbus Modern Dance Company will present a collaborative performance in the gallery on Friday, October 20th at 7:00pm. Set among the visual artwork of the same theme, the dance works will explore all dimensions of music. Each choreographer’s interpretation of the theme will come to life as you hear the music with your eyes. Between pieces, witness live poetry written based on the gallery’s works that surround you.
October 27, 2017: 8 pm at The Art of Yoga
